Falcons Get Win in Boys' Tennis

The O'Neal School boys' tennis team traveled to Dark Branch Tennis Club in Fayetteville on Monday and won its fifth match of the year with a 9-0 win over conference opponent Village Christian Academy.

The Falcons got off to an excellent start by easily sweeping the doubles matches. Garrett Klumpar and Evan Davies defeated Luke Innis and Adam Craven, 8-0, at No. 1 doubles. Austen Hasty and Alex Shore defeated Tim Malone and Anderson Branch, 8-1, at No. 2 doubles and Corbin O'Donnell and Derek Wold defeated Tom Cameron and Dillon James, 8-1.

In singles, Klumpar defeated Innis 6-0, 6-0, Hasty defeated Craven 6-1, 6-1, O'Donnell defeated Cameron 6-0, 6-0, Wold defeated Malone 6-3, 7-6 (5), Shore defeated Branch 6-1, 6-4 and Matthew Friesen defeated Justin Shanks, 6-1, 7-5.

The win came after a 9-0 home lost to Cape Fear on Friday. In singles matches Michael Maynard defeated Klumpar, 6-3, 6-2; Alex Granopolus defeated O'Donnell, 6-1, 6-1; Parker Anderson defeated Wold, 6-2, 6-2; Greg Field defeated Matthew Friesen, 6-2, 6-1; Andrew Schuett defeated Davies, 6-0, 6-1; and A.J. Aziz defeated Ping Virojveerakul, 6-1, 6-0. In doubles, Jan Reintjes and Schuett defeated Klumpar and Friesen, 8-3; Granopolus and Field defeated O'Donnell and Wold, 8-0; and Aziz and Maynard defeated Daniel McCall and Ben Jackson, 8-1.
