"You can make Mother's Day special this year by taking a chance on Habitat's Women Build 2009 raffle," says a spokesman.

Five prizes will be offered, including a $500 gift certificate for laser treatment at the Laser Institute of Pinehurst, a full-body massage from Massage Works, a restorative facial, and gift certificates to Ironwood Caf and Lady Bedford's Tea Parlour & Gift Shoppe.

The drawing will be held at the Buggy Festival in Carthage at the Habitat Booth on May 9. Ticket holders need not be present to win. The proceeds from this raffle benefit the special Women Build project, a house built almost exclusively by women. Construction on the house is expected to begin Sept. 12, and it will be dedicated Dec. 21, right before Christmas. The funds for the house must be raised separately from the regular Habitat budget, making this an extra special challenge.
