Hole-In-One: Rosemary Goodrich, a member of Southern Pines, aced the seventh hole April 21 using her 6-iron. This was her sixth hole-in-one since she moved here in 1983. Her playing partners were Carol Morris, Flo DeSandy and Pat Hoffman.
Southern Pines: The Par Seekers played April 21 in a "Mutt and Jeff" tournament. Only par-3 and par-5 holes scores counted toward the winning scores.

Whispering Pines: Anne Gerwig was the overall winner in the Pinettes handicap tournament April 21. She won a three-hole playoff over the winners in each flight -- Karen Wheeler from flight one, Elaine Fetters from flight two and Judy Woodward from flight three.
The Pinettes played April 21, and the game was "Three Blind Mice," with each player's three worst gross holes being thrown out. Play was on the East Course. Results from the red tees were:

Woodlake: The Ladies Golf Association played April 16 in an Ace Day tournament on the Maples Course. Wanda Parker won low gross with 103, and Dorothy Dube was second with 109. Pam Jones won first net with 82, and Almira Weber was next with 86. Wanda Parker chipped-in on holes 14 and 18.
Pinetops: The Pinetops Inter-Club competition launched the 2009 season at Pinehurst No. 1 on Monday, April 20.

The Women's Golf Association played a "T-A-X Man Cometh!" competition. The format was two best balls on any holes with T-A-X in the spelling and one best ball on all other holes. Paul Leach won low gross with 40, and Tom Delehaunty won low net with 31. Bob Edwards birdied holes two and three. Jim Pittenger won closest to the pin.
Beacon Ridge: The 18-hole Ladies Golf Association played its annual Buddy Tournament over two days. On April 14, scoring was one best ball of the twosome. On April 21, the combined net scores of the twosome were used. The winners were Sonja White and Joyce Loney, 192; Hilde Krallinger and Sara Abbott, 194; Clarice Moreau and Gloria Stanley, 197; Nancy Cunningham and Lindy DiBella, 201; Mary Lois Teyssier and Edna Henrich, 102; and Millie Allen and LaVonne Hurd, 203.
The Beaconettes played April 23, and the game was 4 clubs and a putter. The winners were:

The Men's Golf Association played a Nassau tournament April 22, and the format was two best balls of the foursome.
Jim Braunscheidel, Paul Aschmetat, Richard Madeira and Maury Finnegan were the overall winners with a net 114. Henry Fuhrmann, Ted Meyer, Dave Petro and Allen High won the front nine with a net 55. Stephen Zachary, Joe Alden, Dick Baird and a blind draw won the back nine with a net 63.
The men played their annual President's Cup Tournament on April 14 and 17, and the format is an individual net competition.
Allen High was the overall winner in the 18hole division with a 139.
