Birdie: By attorney Bruce Cunningham, whose devoted labors over three decades have earned him the nickname "Mr. Tour de Moore." Though he didn't dream up the popular bicycle race, whose 34th edition was run Saturday (the credit for that goes to the late David Drexel), he has been the driving -- or pedaling -- force behind it throughout.

Organizing such an event, keeping it safe and watching over every detail is no simple task. Cunningham has risen to the occasion time after time, troubleshooting and keeping a close eye on things from the back of a motorcycle. Now he's thinking of stepping back and turning some of the responsibility over to others. He's earned a break -- and the community's heartfelt gratitude.
