RSVP Community Theatre will present the musical "Always...Patsy Cline" at the historic Sunset Theatre in downtown Asheboro. Performances will be April 23-25 and May 2 at 7:30 p.m., and April 26 and May 3 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and senior citizens.
"Always...Patsy Cline" is more than a tribute to the legendary country singer who died tragically at the age of 30 in a plane crash in 1963. The show is based on a true story about Cline's friendship with a fan from Houston named Louise Seger, who befriended the star in a Texas honky-tonk in 1961, and continued a correspondence with Cline until her death.
The musical play, complete with down-home country humor, true emotion, and even some audience participation, includes many of Patsy's unforgettable hits, such as "Crazy," "I Fall to Pieces," "Sweet Dreams," and "Walking After Midnight" (27 songs in all).
Featured in RSVP's production are Alisa Smith as Patsy Cline and Laura Gwyn Lanier as Louise Seger. A five-member live band provides the music. Philip Shore is the director, and Joe Thatcher is the stage manager.
Tickets will be available at the door or may be purchased at the Randolph Arts Guild at 123 Sunset Avenue in downtown Asheboro.
This production is made possible, in part, by a donation from Randolph Bank.
