Falcon Netters Edge Westchester County Day

The O'Neal School boys' tennis team won its fourth match Thursday with an exciting home win over Westchester County Day School 5-4.

The Falcons took a 3-2 lead into the final singles match of the day. O'Neal's Ping Virojveerakul defeated Chris Lewis 7-6 (4), 6-4 to give the Falcons a 4-2 lead entering doubles. Virojveerakul's match lasted more than two hours.

Needing only one win in the three doubles matches to secure the victory, the Falcon duo of Evan Davies and Daniel McCall defeated Will James and Brian Thomas, 8-0.

Other Falcon singles' match winners included Corbin O'Donnell, Matthew Friesen and Davies.

In and exhibition match, O'Neal's Mark Pracht and Robert Carroll defeated Chris Lewis and Luke Vandeplancke 6-2.

The Falcons (4-1) will try to avenge their only loss of the season when they play Cape Fear Academy at 4 p.m. today. Westchester moved to 6-3 with the loss.
