Watch out for the possibility of severe thunderstorms, bringing hail, damaging winds and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning this afternoon and evening.
A hazardous weather outlook has been issued by the National Weather Service in Raleigh, calling for the chance of window-rattling thunderstorms between the hours of 2 p.m. and 10 p.m., with the greatest threat of the severe weather along and east of the U.S. 1 corridor.
The temperature for today is expected to top out at about 77.
Tonight, the temperature is predicted to drop into the low 50s, but the threat of thunderstorms grows greater in the early evening.
Tuesday, the chance of showers and thunderstorms remains, but with that chance at the 30 percent mark. The partly cloudy day will bring high temperatures in the low-70s, with wind gusts up to 31 mph.
