Seth Caddell wanted to race four-wheelers, but he switched to playing baseball because it was "funner."

It has turned out to be a good choice. Caddell, 8, is a coveted player in the world of select baseball teams. He sometimes plays as many as seven games a week, suiting up for three different teams in different age groups. His main team is a U11 team out of Vass.

"Everyday he's got a baseball bat in his hands," says mom Drema.

The soft-spoken, sometimes shy kid with a fastball that has been clocked at near 60 miles per hour, has six home runs on the season and plays several different positions -- including catcher.

According to his mom, Seth never played t-ball. He always had a knack for hitting a pitched ball, and by the time he was 7, he was playing with kids nearly twice his age.

Seth is so well-known that all-star teams are continually calling his home to see if he is available to play in tournaments or on other traveling teams.

There is no rule on the number of teams he plays on so long as he doesn't play on more than one roster for any age group.

Drema says her son's love of baseball and his talent has been consuming at times for the family.

"We gave up all our hobbies so that he can pursue his," she says.

Baseball has been a ticket to see the United States. Seth has playing in tournaments across the state, region and the United States.

His favorite player is Josh Hamilton and his favorite team is the Boston Red Sox.

Aside from his propensity for baseball, Seth is a normal kid.

He attends Sandhills Farm Life School. She enjoys playing football and basketball and hanging out with his teammates and friends. He likes hip-hop, rap and R&B music. He shoots basketball regularly and enjoys playing video games and riding bikes.

But his real passion is food -- especially steak. But when you ask him to pick a favorite food, he can't.

"That's a hard choice," he says, "I love a lot of different stuff."
