Midland: The Ladies Golf Association played April 9, and the event was "Cup Day." Winners in the 18-hole division were:
Flight 1 -- Dee Hancock, 71; Jo Ann Slayton and Lois Vollmer tied at 72.
Flight-2 -- Sally Stultz, 77; Katie Ryan and Carol Linthicum tied at 79.
Winners in the nine-hole division were:
Flight 1 -- Doris Stone and Bev Braunscheidel tied at 34.
Flight 2 -- Marjorie Heffner, 34.
Jo Ann Slayton birdied 4, and chip-ins were recorded by Lois Vollmer on 17, Jo Ann Slayton on 4 and Katie Ryan on 14.
Woodlake: The Ladies Golf Association played an Eagles Cup, partners' tournament, over two days on the Maples and Palmer courses. The gross and net winners were:
Gross -- Pam Congelosi and Dorothy Dube, 175; Ruth Straka and Louise Plumb, 208.
Net -- Lynn Ball and Brenda Tillman, 142; Cherie Shiels and Nancy Kuhary, 151.
Tuesday chip-ins were recorded by Barbara McCleneghen on 9, and Dorothy Dube had a chip-in birdie on 14. Almira Weber birdied 6 on Thursday, and Pam Congelosi birdied 12 on Tuesday.
Mid-Carolina Men: The first interclub match of 2009 of the Mid-Carolina Men's Golf Association was played April 6 at Pinewild, with the following winners:
Gross -- Donald Kirby, Foxfire, 74; Alan Dirk, Carolina Trace, 74; Marv Houghton, Anderson Creek, 76; Tim O'Day, Pinehurst, 76; Spike Billings, Pinewild, 77.

Pinehurst: The Birdies played April 13 in a game of two best balls on holes 1, 4, 5, 7, 9 and 11 and one best ball on all others, with 95 percent of each player's handicap used for scoring. The winners were:
Kendra Muir, Lisa Carothers, Nancy McNally, 83 by a match of cards (MOC) with Janice Biegger, Rhonda Brooks, Patricia Williamson and Darlene Skinner, 83 (MOC); and Julie Polk, Dorothy Brown, Alice Drew and Donna Tanner, 83 (MOC).
Birdies were recorded by Patti O'Day on 12, Julie Polk on 8 and Donna Tanner on 9 and 13.
The Silver Foils played April 14 in a tournament using a better ball of the pair, with Ann Nash and Cindy Motter winning low gross at 75. Marge Swinarton and Nancy Geddes won low net at 62.
The Women's Golf Association played a "Three Blind Mice" tournament April 9, with two best balls needed on each hole. At the end of play three, holes were chosen to be thrown out. Joann Sluder won low gross with 78.

The Women's Golf Association played April 15 in a low gross/low net contest. Norma Hyland and Susie Points tied at 89 for low gross. Net winners were Betty Lynch with 63 and Lois Lee with 68.
Seven Lakes: The nine-hole Lakers played April 15 in a Cordial Cup and low putts contest.
Marti Elliott won the cup with a net score of 35. Other winners were:
Flight 1 -- Diane Boston, 41.
Flight 2 -- Doris Pierce, 36; Mary Ellen Lorion, 39; Nancy Kling, 39.
Whispering Woods: The Men's Golf Association played April 10 in a team event. The format was on low net on the front nine and two low nets on the back nine. The winning team was Bill Anderson, Ken Pomeroy, Jim Willard and Al Gaeta with 83.
Three-man teams played April 13, and the format was one best ball. Bill Anderson, Charlie Brady and Jim Willard scored 55.
The Women's Golf Association played April 7 in contest counting the best nine holes of 18 holes. Mary Pat Curl had a net 26. Ella Miller and Janet Wood tied at 28.
The women played April 14 and 18 in the spring handicap tournament. It was reduced to a 27 hole contest due to the rain April 14. The overall winner was Gerry Scalia with 100. Flight winners were:
Flight 1 -- Shirley Brennan, 103; Margaret Endrigat, 109; Tina Burns, 110.
Flight 2 -- Barbara Woodruff, 103; Mary Pat Curl, 110; Fanny Maines, 113.
Whispering Pines: The Men's Golf Association played its monthly "Beer Day" on April 15, and the format was two best net balls of the foursome. The winners were Art Woodward, Michael Tile, Phil Duggins and Dick Strine, 120. Paul Hallet, Don MacIlvaine, Stafford and Jack Lyons, and Sean Duggan, Brett Buehner, Jim Mullin and Rich Gibbons tied at 121.
The Ninettes held its spring handicap tournament, a three-day elimination event, April 6, 9 and 10. The format was match play, and the winners were:
Flight 1 -- Mary Jakucyk over Marcia Osborne at 1-up.
Flight 2 -- Dee Heine over Val Flahie at 1-up.
Mimi Schoolcraft chipped-in on hole 12 on April 6.
Beacon Ridge: Karen Milligan had a net 32 to win the April Beaconette Cup tournament. Flight winners were:
Flight 1 -- Katie Swain, 35; Ann Doster, 39.
Flight 2 -- Carole Skau, 35; Linda DeBrine and Ruth Shannon tied at 38.
Flight 3 -- Bev Covault, 35; Rose Gaynor, 33.
Longleaf: The Men's Golf Association spring team play season has reached its midway point. The scoring system awards 2 points to each hole (one for a win and half for a tie). The division leaders are as follows:
Division 1 -- Wayne Fish and Don Crowder, 60 points.
Division 2 -- Gary Carroll and Jim Coleman, 69 points.
Division 3 -- Loran Crowell and Fred Schrank, 61 points.
Division 4 -- Jack Harmon and Ed Rowland, 64 points.
