On Thursday, April 30, at the Days Inn, Southern Pines, Longleaf Garden Club will present a small standard flower show.

This show will be free and open to the public from 1 to 3:30 p.m.

A buffet luncheon will be available at noon prior to the show for $13.50. Reservations for the luncheon must be made by Monday, April 20, by calling Aurelia Howett at 949-7268.

The show, titled "The Spirit of Spring," has five design classes and 17 horticulture classes and conforms to requirements as set by National Garden Clubs Inc.

Class titles in the design section are: "April Showers," featuring water and designer's choice of plant materials; "May Flowers," design in a basket, designers' choice of plant materials; "Celebration of Spring," an exhibition table, choice of plant materials, and "The Spirit of Spring," invitational designs interpreting the theme of the show using designers' choice of plant materials.
