Fayetteville Gallery Features 2D Exhibit

Cape Fear Studios Inc., a local gallery, shop and nonprofit center for the visual arts in historic downtown Fayetteville, is featuring a new exhibit of work from the first Cape Fear Studios National 2D Exhibition. The exhibit of 2D artwork will be on display April 23May 20.

An opening reception for the show is scheduled for Thursday, April 23, 7 to 9 p.m. The exhibit will also be open for the monthly Fourth Friday Event held in downtown Fayetteville. Cape Fear Studios is located at 148 Maxwell Street. Operating hours are Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All exhibits are free and open to the public.

Over 90 entries for this exhibit were received from all over the United States, and there will be pieces in the show from artists in Los Angeles, Brooklyn, Alexandria, and many more. The best-in-show award is $1,000. Prizes will be awarded Thursday, April 23, at 7:30 p.m.

The juror for this year's competiton is Judy Crane, a well known artist from Artspace in Raleigh, who has significant teaching experience. Her work has been exhibited extensively throughout North Carolina and is represented in a number of corporate collections. She selected 60 pieces from the entries to be represented in the show.
