The third and final in a series of public forums on the county budget process will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Davis Community Center near Robbins.

County Manager Cary McSwain, Financial Services Director Lisa Hughes, and department heads will make presentations on how the county budget is put together. Included will be an explanation of budget reduction measures already in place. They will remain to answer questions from the public.

The series began last week at the Senior Enrichment Center. The second forum was held Tuesday at Vass Town Hall.

COBLE -- Congressman Howard Coble will pay a visit to Pinehurst Sunday at 3 p.m. for an Eagle Scout ceremony for nine Scouts at Community Presbyterian Church.

Earlier in the day he will attend services at his own church, Alamance Presbyterian, in Greensboro.

Coble is in Climax today for a North Carolina Agribusiness Council Ag Forum at Whitaker Farms. He will meet with constituents with appointments in his Graham office this afternoon.

The 6th District Republican will deliver a speech at the Davidson GOP Lincoln/Reagan Day Dinner in Lexington Saturday.

GOP CLUBS -- Dr. Mike S. Adams will be guest speaker at a joint meeting of the Moore County Republican Men's and Women's clubs on Thursday, May 14, at Country Club of North Carolina.

Adams has appeared on such television shows as "Hannity and Combs," "The O'Reilly Factor" and "Scarborough Country." After his involvement in a well-publicized free speech controversy after the 9/11 terror attacks, he became a vocal critic of the diversity movement in academia. He is a faculty member at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where he teaches in the criminal justice program and writes a column for Townhall.com.

In addition to speaking, Adams will be available to sign his latest book, "Feminists Say the Darndest Things."

The meeting will begin with a social hour at 11 a.m. with the meal following at noon. Reservations must be called to Joan Ward at 295-6544. Cost of the luncheon is $15.

DUTIES CLARIFIED -- The Moore County Board of Commissioners recently assigned additional duties to the clerk, Megan Owrey, who now also serves as public relations officer.

Eli Arroyo-Allen, of the manager's office, will continue to serve as county public information officer.

EASEMENT -- The Board of Commissioners has approved an easement for construction and maintenance of underground water lines with the Pinehurst Medical Group.

The board voted approval, subject to approval by the county attorney, at the April 6 meeting.

At the same meeting, the board voted to renew a lease agreement between the village of Pinehurst and the county to allow the Department of Public Utilities to use a village site for equipment and material storage.
