LandDesign, an urban planning, civil engineering, landscape architecture and branding company with an office in Southern Pines, has named Scott Mickle as director of business development.

Mickle is responsible for business development in Southern Pines as well as in Asheville and Charlotte in North Carolina; Tampa, Fla.; Nashville, Tenn.; Washington, D.C.; and Beijing, China.

Mickle, 33, has been associated with construction, architecture and engineering for more than a decade and most recently owned AEC Marketing Solutions.

Mickle said the comprehensive nature of LandDesign's work is what attracted him.

"A firm that's doing planning, landscape architecture and civil engineering can affect more of the overall quality of life," he said.

Mickle said he is implementing a new strategic development plan to expand the firm's private and public sector relationships.

Mickle has a bachelor's degree in marketing and a master's of business administration degree. He is a certified professional services marketer and was named by Building Design & Construction magazine to its 2006 initial list of 40 Under 40 rising young executives in architecture, engineering, contracting and designing.
