Julia "Judy" K. Atherholt, 88, of Pinehurst, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 18, at 3 p.m. at Community Presbyterian Church with Dr. Homer Phifer and Dr. Rod Stone officiating.

A native of Tipton, Ind., she was a daughter of the late Oris and Della Powel Kinder. She received a degree in music at DePauw University in Green Castle, Ind., taught high school music and band at Noblesville, Ind., and for several years she worked as a stewardess for American Airlines.

She is survived by her husband, George H. Atherholt; daughter, Cynthia C. Purvis and husband, Daniel, of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; son, A. John Cornish of Morrison, Colo.; stepsons Tyson W. Atherholt, of New Fields, N.H., Frederick M. Atherholt. of York, Pa., and George J. Atherholt, of Saratoga, Wyo., and 11 grandchildren.
