First Bank recently promoted Derinda Fowler Hobson to assistant vice president and IRA supervisor at its operations center in Troy.

"We're pleased to announce Derinda's new position as assistant vice president and IRA supervisor for First Bank," said Christy Cheyney, operations manager at First Bank. "She is a hardworking and knowledgeable employee and we're confident that she will excel in this position."

A lifelong resident of Moore County, Hobson graduated from Pinecrest High School and received an associate's degree in business administration from Sandhills Community College. She has been in banking for more than 23 years and worked as a customer service representative at First Bank's Southern Pines office before transferring to operations as an IRA assistant in 2004.

Hobson lives in Southern Pines with her husband, Kelly, and two children, Ledena and Collin. The Hobson family attend First Baptist Church in Aberdeen, where Derinda is involved with the Royal Ambassadors and the children's department.
