S.P. Police Make Several Drug Arrests

Three Southern Pines residents have been arrested recently on various drug charges, according to a press release from the Southern Pines Police Department.
Anthony Ray Dickerson, 50, was arrested on April 1 at 823 W. New York Avenue, Southern Pines. An investigation determined that warrants for his arrest were outstanding. He was charged with one count of possession with intent to sell and distribute a Schedule II controlled substance; maintain dwelling and vehicle for controlled substance; sell or deliver a Schedule IV controlled substance; and sell and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance. His bail was set at $40,000.
Derrick Delmont Malloy, 26, was stopped by a Southern Pines police officer on March 26 in the 200 block of North Gaines Street, Southern Pines, who determined that warrants for Malloy's arrest were outstanding. The warrants were issued as a result of an undercover investigation conducted in 2008 by the Investigation Division of the Southern Pines Police Department. Malloy was charged with one count of possession of controlled substance with intent to manufacture a Schedule II controlled substance and two counts of sell and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance. His bail was set at $10,000.
Avery Brooks Hockaday, 21, was encountered by a Southern Pines police officer on April 7 at West Wisconsin Avenue, Southern Pines. A subsequent investigation led to his arrest. Hockaday was charged with one count of possession with intent to sell and distribute a controlled substance; resist, delay and obstruct a public officer; and driving while license suspended or revoked. He was released on a written promise to appear in court.
