The Southern Pines Town Council approved two architectural reviews at its monthly business meeting Tuesday.

The first was an amended plan for the Cypress Creek townhouse units that will be constructed on Saunders Blvd. Originally intended to consist of several buildings with two units per building, the revised plan now includes buildings with four, six and eight units in them.

The developers made concessions on the colors and materials on the buildings as well as elevation in order to satisfy the council, which voted 4-1 to approve the plan.

"I, for one, compliment you on listening and responding," Mayor Mike Haney said to the developers. "I thank you very much. I think that's commendable."

Councilman David Woodruff voted against it, saying that he wasn't content with the size of the buildings.

"I know [the developers] did respond to everything," Woodruff said, "but I'm still not happy with the fact that we've got buildings that are so large. Without any colors on these (plans), I really can't appreciate the changes."

The council also unanimously approved a plan for a Little Caesars pizzeria, which is moving into the small shopping center between the Moore County Chamber of Commerce and Chick-Fil-A. While the restaurant is going into an existing building, the council needed to approve plans for the addition of a drive-through that will extend from the building about three feet to the curb.

According to the a Little Caesars representative at the meeting, the restaurant will not offer delivery services.
