Nona Smith Robertson, 92, formerly of Ashley Heights, died Friday, April 10, 2009, at Rex Rehab Center in Apex.

She was born Oct. 19, 1916, in Roff, Okla., and was the ninth child of the late Willis and Delilah Smith. Her beloved husband of 55 years, Martin A. Robertson Sr., and great-granddaughter, Cheyenne Robertson, preceded her in death. Mrs. Robertson graduated from Weeden Nursing School in Duncan, Okla., where she met and married Martin Robertson, who was stationed at Fort Sill, Okla., in 1944. After the war, she moved to Aberdeen, to her husband's home where they lived until his death in April 2000. Mrs. Robertson was a registered nurse and loved her work at Moore Memorial Hospital for over 30 years until she retired.

She is survived by one daughter, Regina Cheek, of Apex; one son, M.A. Robertson Jr. and wife, Brenda, of Raleigh; a sister, Betty Barrow of Soldotna, Alaska; three grandchildren, Carter Robertson, of Fairfax, Va., Kevin Cheek, of Apex, and Jason Cheek, of Boston, Mass.; and one great-granddaughter, Isabella Grace.

A memorial service will be held at Page Memorial Methodist Church in Aberdeen, Saturday, April 18, at 1 p.m. The family will receive family and friends in the fellowship hall immediately following the service.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Rex Rehab of Apex and Wake County Hospice for their loving care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Page Memorial Methodist Church Building Fund or Wake County Hospice, 1300 St. Mary's Street, Fourth Floor Raleigh, NC 27605.

Boles Funeral Home of Southern Pines is serving the family.
