Catherine Walker McNeill, 83, of Raeford, died Monday, April 13, 2009, in her home.

Mrs. McNeill was born in Hoke County March 20, 1926, to the late John W. and Ella Tarpley Walker. She was a member of the Raeford Presbyterian Church and graduated from Mary Washington University in Virginia. Mrs. McNeill was an avid reader and gardener.

She is survived by her husband, Edwin L. McNeill, of Raeford; son, Edwin (Eddie) L. McNeill, Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Raeford; daughter, Catherine McNeill Owens and her husband, Edward, of Raeford; brothers, John W. Walker Jr. and his wife, Arlene, of Charlotte; and Thomas (Derry) Walker and his wife, Jean, of Southern Pines; grandchildren, Elizabeth W. Owens and her husband, Jared Edwards, James E. McNeill and his wife, Amy, Catherine W. McNeill, and David M. McNeill and his fiancee, Melissa Mayhew.

The family will receive friends at the home and after the service at the graveside.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, at the Raeford Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Burnside officiating.
