Gene R. Stevens, 73, of Whispering Pines, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Mr. Stevens was born March 5, 1936, in Milwaukee, Wis., to the late Joseph Szedziewski and Josephine Waga.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Justine, of Whispering Pines and Gurnee, Ill.; a son, Mark Stevens, of Minneapolis, Minn.; daughters, Lori Stevens, of Gurnee, Ill., Sandi Hansen and husband, Jim, of Gurnee, Ill., and Kelly Sims and husband, Pat, of Oconomowoc, Wis.; brothers, Edward Stevens, of Manitowoc, Wis., and Len Stevens, of Buffalo, N.Y; a sister, Jeanette Tuszynski, of Milwaukee, Wis.; six grandchildren, Michelle Stevens, Christine Stevens, Grant Hansen, Anika Hansen, Nathan Sims, and Matthew Sims.
