A one-vehicle accident backed up traffic on U.S. 1 this afternoon in both directions.

A Land Rover pulling a trailer lost control and flipped over in the median of the four-lane highway around 1:45 p.m. The accident happened near the exit for Pennsylvania Avenue. A witness said that the trailer, which was carrying construction equipment, appeared to be swaying before the vehicle flipped.

The driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

Traffic was being diverted up the exit ramps to Pennsylvania Avenue on either side of the highway.
