A Jackson Springs woman died in a three-car wreck on N.C. 211 near Taylortown Tuesday morning.

Marion Helen O'Donnell, 94, was a passenger in a car driven by her husband, John Harrison O'Donnell. Their vehicle was traveling west on N.C. 211.

When he slowed for traffic, the car was struck in the rear by a car driven by Tricia Embler, of Southern Pines, according to State Highway Patrol Trooper J.T. Gaddy.

The impact pushed O'Donnell's car into the oncoming lane, which was struck nearly head-on by a car driven by Ina Munn, of West End, who was traveling east on N.C. 211, Gaddy said.

The accident happened about 8:12 a.m.

Three people were transported to the FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, where Marion O'Donnell died. Munn and John Harrison O'Donnell were also transported to the hospital. He was listed in fair condition, while Munn was in good condition, according to a spokesperson for the hospital.

No charges have been filed, but Gaddy said the wreck was still under investigation.
