Whispering Pines has a new police chief and a new town clerk.

During Wednesday's Village Council meeting, village manager Steve DeBolt announced that Domonic Campbell, who was acting as interim chief, is the new chief of police and Linda Christopher the new village clerk.

Louis Gregory, the former Whispering Pines chief of police, retired Feb. 1. Campbell was appointed as interim chief in December 2008. A member of the Whispering Pines Police Department for 16 years, Campbell was recognized as the 2008 James W. Wise Officer of the Year by the Moore County Law Enforcement Association.

Christopher has worked for the village of Whispering Pines for a year. The former town clerk, Geneva Wilson, retired in March after working for the village 16 years.
