A Jackson Springs woman died in a three-car wreck on N.C. 211 near Taylortown Tuesday morning.
Marion Helen O'Donnell, 94, of Eagle Springs, was a passenger in a car driven by her husband, John Harrison O'Donnell, that was heading westbound on N.C. 211 at approximately 8:12 a.m. when their car, which had slowed for traffic, was struck in the back by a car driven by Tricia Embler of Southern Pines, according to State Highway Patrol Trooper J.T. Gaddy.
O'Donnell's car was pushed into the oncoming lane where Ina Munn of West End was heading eastbound in her car. Munn's and O'Donnell's cars collided at an angle, but pretty much head-on, Gaddy said.
Three people were transported to the FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital where Marion Helen O'Donnell died. Munn and John Harrison O'Donnell were also transported to the hospital. O'Donnell was in fair condition this morning, while Munn was in good condition, according to a spokesperson for the hospital.
No charges have been filed, but Gaddy said the wreck was still under investigation.
