Pilot Light: Coble to Visit Pinelake, Airport

Congressman Howard Coble will visit Pinelake Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage Thursday as part of a day-long swing into Moore County.

Seven elderly patients and a nurse were shot and killed at Pinelake on March 29.

The 6th District congressman will start the day with a visit to New Century Middle School, where he will speak to students. From Pinelake. He will travel to Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst to address the Moore County Republican Men's Club.

Before leaving the county Coble will tour a hangar construction site at the Moore County Airport.

Congress is in recess for the spring break, and Coble is spending the week in the district.

GOP FUNDRAISER -- Moore County Republicans are working out details of their Red, White and Blue Gala, to be held Saturday, April 25, in the Cardinal Ballroom at the Carolina Hotel in Pinehurst.

The event, to begin at 6 p.m., is the local party's major fundraiser of the year.

INTERLOCAL -- At their Monday meeting, the Moore County commissioners approved two interlocal agreements with the town of Taylortown.

One will allow the county to provide building inspection services for Taylortown, the other will allow the county to assist the town with administration of the Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance.

Taylortown is among several municipalities that have reached similar interlocal agreements with the county in recent weeks. The services are offered through the Moore County Department of Planning and Community Development.
