Percy Wallace Vample, 55, of Carthage, died Saturday, April 4, 2009, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Mr. Vample was born Dec. 27, 1953, in New Jersey, to the late John Percy and Lovie McKinnon Vample. He was a groom and horse trainer at Sunning Hills Farms and Just Right Farms.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 4888 U.S. 1 South, Vass, with Pastor Charles Bloom officiating.
Mr. Vample is survived by his wife, Sharon M. Vample; three daughters, Katrina Gilchrist, of Carthage, Michelle Vample and Sarah Vample, both of the home; one son, Julian Thomas, of Wilmington; one sister, Shirley Kelly, of Carthage; two brothers, Otis Vample and Tyrone Vample, both of Carthage; an uncle, John Henry McKinnon, of Columbus, Ga., an aunt, Flora Taborn, of Pinehurst; five grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service.
