Brenda Gail Rose, 61, of Asheboro, died Saturday, April 4, 2009, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, after a brief illness.
Brenda was born in Randolph County and spent her entire life living there in the Seagrove/Ulah area. Brenda was born with spina bifida, and spent her life in a wheelchair; however, this did not deter her from attending school. She loved to crochet and make things to donate to charitable organizations. She worked with and helped her parents as they operated Rose Garments in the shop near their home. She loved her computer and became quite proficient in using it, and she enjoyed the many e-mail friends that she encountered there. She also loved to talk to her many friends and family members on the telephone, as this was her lifeline to the outside world.
Brenda has now been reunited in Heaven with her parents, Dossie Thomas Rose and Hazel Lee Lucas Rose, who preceded her in death in 1991 and 2002.
Brenda did not have any immediate family survivors; however, she is survived by many cousins and friends.
Family members wish to extend their thanks to her friends, Eddy Cole, Nadine Johnson, Eunice Gee, Frances Strider, and Bobby Merrill, also to Frances Jarman, Shirley, and Sherry, who helped her in recent years. Thanks are also extended to all who have befriended her over the years.
Visitation for friends and family was held from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro. The funeral service was held at the chapel of Pugh Funeral Home at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Lee Green and Michael Lucas officiating. Burial followed at Russell Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spina Bifida Association of America, 4590 Mac Arthur Blvd., Suite 250, Washington, DC 20007.
