After several months of preparation, The Pilot is now offering employers and job seekers an enhanced customer service on this Web site.
The site, which shows the same ads that run in the print edition, offers new opportunities for both parties in fulfilling job needs. Job seekers, for example, can now submit a resume to the site. The resume is viewable by all employers actively seeking to fill a position. In addition, the service will match resumes with available jobs posted and automatically notify both parties when a match is made.
This new service helps filter the process for both employers and job seekers. Employers get a better group of applicants because they are prescreened for key qualifications. Job seekers are notified when a job goes online that matches their qualifications. They can respond quickly in that way.
"We've been researching this service for some time," said Pat Taylor, advertising director of The Pilot. "And we think the Job Network is a great solution. It's locally oriented, but gives the potential employee an opportunity to look in other states as well within the site. In this economy, with unemployment as high as it is, that seems to be a plus."
Likewise, people from other areas can keep tabs on jobs in this area as they are posted.
"This is one area where print and the web really work well together," said Taylor.
The Fayetteville Observer is a member of the network, and so jobs in the Fayetteville area will be in with those from Moore County, giving seekers more awareness of jobs in the region.
There is a weekly charge to employers for their ads online, but the service is free for those looking for work. The fee is charged at a flat rate per ad for one week, regardless of how many times the ad runs in the paper.
Visitors to thepilot.com can find the Job Network link button on the left hand column of the front page. Or click here to view it now.
