Edward Arthur Davis, 83, of Pinehurst, died Thursday, April 2, 2009.

Mr. Davis was born April 8, 1925, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Arthur and Ethel (Dawes) Davis. He served his country in the Army in Europe during World War II. Previously from Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, Mr. Davis retired to Pinehurst with his wife, Eleanor Davis, in 1989. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed music, handball and golf, fine food and wine, nature and the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eleanor; daughters, Betsy Zazow and husband Paul, Mary Cliff and husband, Dudley, son Charles Davis and wife, Darlene (Santeler); five grandchildren, Morgan and Jake Zazow, Jonathan and Scott Cliff, Bradley Davis; and two great-granddaughters, Anna and Aubrey Cliff. Mr. Davis was predeceased by his daughter, Susan Carlson.

A memorial service will be held at Boles Funeral Home in Pinehurst Saturday, April 4, at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Grady Perryman officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Echoing Hills Village, a nonprofit organization ministering to the developmentally disabled of Ohio, 36272 C.R. 79, Warsaw, Ohio 43844.
