Pat Michael Lippiello passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, in Connecticut, Wednesday, March 25, 2009. Son of the late Steve and Stephanie Lippiello, Pat was born Nov. 17, 1919, in Tuxedo Park, N.Y.
A World War II veteran, Pat served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force, stationed in the Philippine Islands. He worked as an engineer for Curtiss Wright Aeronautical in Woodbridge, N.J., for 40 years. More than a life's work, airplanes were his passion. After retiring from Curtiss Wright, Pat worked as a real-estate agent for Century 21 before retiring to Pinehurst in 1982. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Pinehurst.
Pat was happiest out on the golf course or working in his gardens. He also was an avid bird watcher. A kind and loving man, he never had a cross word for anyone. Pat was always a thoughtful man who loved and was much loved by his family.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Anne; his son Patrick and wife, Diane; daughter, Donna Pressman and husband, Martin; and grandchildren, Marisa Durstewitz and husband, Marc; Kara and Ewen.
Memorial services and interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or the Coalition in Southern Pines. www.codywhitefuneralservice.com.
