Mary Alice Blue Blyan, 74, of Aberdeen, formerly of Hoffman, died Saturday, March 28, 2009, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines. Burial followed the service at Blue Family Cemetery, in Hoffman. The family received friends Monday, March 30, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines.
Born May 7, 1934, in Scotland County, to the late Jayce and Alice Sparks, Mrs. Blyan enjoyed going to church and was a former member of Springfield Freewill Baptist Church in Laurel Hill. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and the roses that grew at her home.
She is survived by five sons, Larry Blue, of Hamlet, Macom Blue, of Rockingham, Tommy Lee Blue, of Rockingham, Johnny Blue, of Hoffman, and Ronnie Blue, of Hamlet; two daughters, Doris Garner, of Pinebluff, and Jeanette King, of Hoffman. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Perry Blue and Walter Blyan. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Earnest Sparks, Fred Sparks, Curtis Sparks, and Cammey Allen Sparks and two sisters, Janie Brigman, and Lena Sparks, and by one half-sister, Eva Sparks.
