The advertising flier that was inserted in the Sept. 21 issue of The Pilot was mistakenly placed in the wrong medium. A much more appropriate location for it would have been the garbage. It is appalling and disgusting, not to mention insulting to this reader.

The purportedly Democratic positions are simply preposterous and prejudicial. I'd be ashamed to make such blatantly deceptive statements and expect that someone would applaud me for it.

I hesitated to respond to the content of the flier because I didn't want to lower myself to the level it occupies. But I must say that if John Owens thinks we Democrats will sit back and be denigrated by him and the Republican Party of Moore County without comment, he's sadly mistaken.

We are a rationally thinking and caring people who are compassionate and respectful to our fellow human beings. It is possible to disagree with contrasting views without exhibiting the characteristics of a guttersnipe and blatantly lying about your opponent.

Owens and the Moore County Republican Party need to take a step back and look at themselves objectively, if they can. They'd be amazed at the ludicrous spectacle they're presenting to The Pilot's readership with their puerile behavior. I'm proud to be a Democrat. What does Owen have to be proud of, aside from being a ridiculously unfunny comic?

Lie about yourself and your party if you must stoop to generalizations, but please leave the Democrats out of it.
