Torrey Lowe had already rewritten most of the receiving and all-purpose yardage records at Greensboro College entering his final football season.

In Saturday's 34-0 home victory over Gallaudet, the former Pinecrest star from Southern Pines made a few more entries. He caught 16 passes for 190 yards and three touchdowns, and rushed for another as the Pride improved to 2-1 on the season.

On Monday, Lowe was honored as the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week for his accomplishments.

"Torrey already has a string on so many records," Pride coach Neal Mitchell said on Monday. "To have a dominating performance like this is icing on the cake."

Lowe's single game, single season and career records are almost too numerous to mention. The number of catches and yardage against Gallaudet were new standards, and the four touchdowns tied his own record.

He also broke the career record for touchdown receptions (13) and is closing in on the career marks for most touchdowns overall and total points scored.

The 6-foot-1, 204-pound Lowe opened the scoring on Saturday with a four-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter. He linked up with quarterback Mike Caparaso for a nine-yard score in the second period. The pair collaborated on 18 and 46-yard strikes in the third quarter.

During his first three seasons, Lowe often took direct snaps and was one of the team's leading rushers. He also threw enough passes to make it into the career book as the passer with the most yards per completion. The main focus of opposing defensive coordinators for the last four years has been to stop Lowe.

Now he is being utilized almost exclusively as a wide receiver although he is still returning punts and kickoffs. With more offensive weapons around him than in the past, his coach feels he can have another big year.

"If Torrey is going to be able to get an opportunity to play after college, it's going to be as a wide receiver," Mitchell said. "He has worked incredibly hard. He's added to his flexibility, and he's a great physical specimen."

An Exercise and Sports Science major, Lowe was the Div. III Conference USA Freshman of the Year in 2005. He made the all-league first team in 2005 and 2007, and the second team in 2006.

He needs three catches in Saturday's home game against Marysville to reach 200 for his career.

The son of Vincent Utley and Linda Lowe caught 63 passes for 839 yards and eight touchdowns as a junior at Pinecrest. In his senior year, he was the team's leading rusher and one of the best defensive players in the conference. He earned all-conference honors in football and baseball.

The Greensboro College roster also includes two freshmen that played at Pinecrest in fullback LaDarius Graham of Aberdeen and wide receiver Mitch Johnson of Pinebluff.
