Deputies Charge Aberdeen Man With Assault of Disabled Woman

Moore County sheriff's deputies arrested an Aberdeen man Monday and charged him with sexually assaulting a handicapped woman.
Deputies arrested Bruce Verbal, 51, the day of the reported assault. The victim reported to officers that a man entered her bedroom and assaulted her.
Deputies charged Verbal with second-degree sex offense on a handicapped person. He was jailed with a $10,000 bond. His first court hearing is Monday.
He was there doing some work for the woman.
Break-ins: Sheriff's deputies arrested seven men, four of them juveniles, and charged them in a string of break-ins, thefts and vandalism in the Cameron area.
According to the Sheriff's Office, all of the suspects are from the neighborhood where the crimes occurred: the Hidden Lakes trailer park.
"These seem to be crimes of opportunity," Capt. Jeff Medlin said. "They had some time on their hands. I'm not sure if they all knew each other."
Deputies arrested the seven men Sept. 8. They took petitions out on the four juveniles.
The three adults, Emmitt McNeill, 38, Marice Hartgrove, 20, and Nicholas Simmons, 20, face a variety of charges. The names of the juveniles were not released.
The crimes involved include eight cases of breaking and entering and larceny from homes or vehicles, two counts of damage to property and one count of larceny of a moped.
McNeill is charged with two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of felony larceny and two counts of possession of stolen property. He was released on secured bail of $10,000.
Hartgrove is charged with five counts of breaking and entering, five counts of felony larceny, five counts of possession of stolen property. He was jailed with secured bail set at $30,000.
Simmons is charged with three counts of breaking and entering, three counts of felony larceny and three counts of possession of stolen property. He was jailed with secured bail set at $2,500.
