Carlton Lee Cole Jr., 82, of Aberdeen, died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Doub's Chapel United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Eric Joyce. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A native of Moore County, he was a son of the late Carlton Lee Cole and Margaret Alice McKenzie Cole. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. A retired U. S. Mail carrier, he was also a retired farmer and enjoyed his vegetable garden and flower garden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Cole Bryant.

He is survived by: his wife, Millie Black Cole; a son, Darrell Cole and wife, Teresa, of Aberdeen; a sister, Sharon Hussey and husband, Jimmy, of Aberdeen; a brother, Jerry Cole, of West End; four grandchildren, Jonathan Hussy, Jo-Anna Hussey, Jason Cole and Sara Cole.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today (Friday) at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home in Carthage.
