Chapter No. 83 of the Disabled American Veterans will hold a fall barbecue from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at 1020 Priest Hill Road, Carthage.

Both pork and chicken plates will be available at $6 per plate, eat-in or take-out.

Six or more plates can be delivered.

'Peter Pan'

On Saturday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m. The PlayHouse, a division of Taylor Dance, will present a children's theater performance classic, "Peter Pan," at Southern Pines Primary School.

An evening performance will also be offered at 7 p.m., and on Sunday, a third performance will be at 2 p.m.

"Our students performing in 'Peter Pan' will complete our summer workshop," says Rita Taylor.

"What makes 'Peter Pan' special for the instructors is that we were able to include all our students from the youngest to the oldest into one production."

This is the largest cast to date for The Playhouse, featuring 21 local students: Amani Albrecht; Elizabeth Connelly; Savanna Fitzgerald; Kathryn Hasty; Kathleen Holland; Vanessa Lennon; Abby Marcus; Emma Marcus; Caroline Mays; Caroline Miller; Rachel Moore; Killian Poplyk; Emma Sikes; Andrew Soboeiro; Kristiana Wade; Kaitlyn Wagner; Sus Wagner; Alexis Whitecar; Zachery White; Alex Wilson; and Greer Windley.

"The PlayHouse, is a wonderful opportunity for young actors to experience the elements of theater in a positive and enriching environment," says Taylor.

"We are welcoming new students for our spring production of 'Lemonade.'"
