Johnnie Wallace Shirley, 69, of Vass, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Fayetteville.

Mr. Shirley was a former member of the U.S. Army.

Funeral: 1 p.m. Saturday, Bostic-Kendrick Funeral chapel, Southern Pines.

Burial: Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, Spring Lake.

Visitation: 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

Survivors: a daughter, Theresa Johnson, of Vass; a son, Bruce John Shirley, of Monroe; a brother, Eric Molyneaux, of Massapegua, N.Y.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
