Falcons Win, Pats Lose in Volleyball

The Pinecrest volleyball team was swept 25-12, 25-23 and 25-12 by undefeated Scotland County Thursday in one of the key early-season conference match-ups.
The Patriots got off on the wrong foot, falling behind 7-0 in the first game with Josephine Yang serving tough for the Scots. They bounced back in the second game to take a 22-19 lead on three service points in a row by Tatiana Suvorova. But, the visitors scored six of the next seven points to win the game and take a commanding 2-0 lead. Suvorova finished the match with seven kills and 10 digs to lead the home team.
The Patriots dropped to 5-3 overall, and 1-1 in the Mid-Southeastern Conference. They travel to Richmond Senior on Tuesday. Scotland improved to 7-0 and 2-0. In a battle of unbeatens, the Scot junior varsity team (8-0) defeated the Patriots (6-1), 25-20 and 25-14.
Falcon Netters Get Win
O'Neal made short work of visiting St. David's in girls' volleyball Thursday with a four-set win in a non-conference match.
The Falcons posted 25-17, 20-25, 25-17, 25-17 scores in winning their eighth game of the season. Overall, O'Neal is now 8-3 for the season.
