The Yellow Rocker square dancers celebrated their 32nd anniversary with a special dance featuring international caller Jerry Story and cued ballroom by Jim Adcock. There were 91 dancers in attendance from this area, including 60 from the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill and Greenville areas. The Yellow Rockers provided a delicious array of food to keep up participants' energy for all the dancing.

The Yellow Rockers have danced at the Olde West End Gym since its renovation in 1976. One of the charter members, Virginia Cary McDonald, still dances with the group. Others of the 10 original couples visit occasionally.

Each year the Yellow Rockers hold classes for new dancers, beginning with two free nights of open house. This year's open house nights will be Sept. 4 and 11 at 7 p.m. Square dancing is a multi-generational activity so families can participate. Children must be at least 10 years old and must be accompanied by their parents.
