S.P. Police Arrest Suspect in Vehicle Break-In

An Aberdeen man was caught in the act of breaking into a motor vehicle and apprehended shortly after by the Southern Pines police on Monday.

Fitzgerald Harris, 47, was charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle and attempted larceny from a motor vehicle.

After officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Eastman Road in Southern Pines to investigate the report of an attempted break-in to a car, they were supplied with a description of the suspect by a witness.

An investigating officer encountered a person matching the description walking a short distance from the crime scene. The victim was able to make a positive identification and Harris was arrested and charged.

Harris was placed in the Moore County Jail, with his bail set at $2,500.
