Britt Wins Fourth Amateur Title

Sherrill Britt won his second straight and fourth overall Moore County Men's Amateur Championship Sunday, closing with a 4-under-par 67 for a 36-hole total of 131 on the Southern Pines Golf Club course.
Britt, who stands one win short of the record five wins by Steve Wright in the event, opened with a 64 on Saturday but only shared the lead with John Romaine of West End.
Ryan Fox, a two-time champion, shot 67-66--133 to claim second, while Romaine finished third at 136. Romaine closed with 71.
Chuck Cordell of Pinehurst won the Senior Division with 71-72--143 in a one-hole playoff over Ken Eichele of Pinehurst.
Tim O'Day of Pinehurst used a first-round 66 to win the Super Senior Division with a 141, four strokes better than runner-up Terry Collins.
Sean Duggan had a hole-in-one on the seventh hole in Saturday's round.
