A Robbins man died Saturday in an early morning one-car accident on N.C. 24.

Mark Travis Conklin, 27, was driving west about six miles east of Robbins near the intersection with N.C. 22 when his 1993 Dodge truck went off the right side of the road.

It went down an embankment and overturned onto the driver's side, partially ejecting Conklin, according to a report by the State Highway Patrol. He died on the scene.

Paramedics took Tony Glenn English, 27, a passenger in the truck, to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. He was released Monday.

Conklin is a native of Randolph County. According to his obituary, he worked as a painter and construction worker and enjoyed deer hunting and fishing.
