Hole-In-One: Andrew Jackson of Southern Pines, recorded a hole-in-one on Sept. 7. He used his 4-iron, on the 165-yard, fourth hole of the Palmetto Course at Myrtlewood. He was attending a Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday. Jim Wilson witnessed the shot.
Dee Dee Schmitt, a member of Pinewild, recorded her second hole-in-one while playing the 99-yard, seventh hole of the Magnolia Course. Her ball hit the flag stick and dropped right into the cup. It was the second day of the annual Solheim Cup Tournament and her playing partners were Marjory Leidy, JoAnn Sluder and Peggy Clark.
Willie Miller, of Pinehurst, recorded his seventh career hole-in-one on the 162-yard, fourth hole, of the Pit Golf Course. He used his 6-iron. His playing partner was John Curtis.
Pinewild: The Ladies Golf Association played in a Peer Play contest on the Magnolia Course Oct. 7. The winners: Flight 1 -- Jean Grieshaber, gross 80. Paula Montgomery, net 71; Carol Pitzer, 74. Flight 2 -- Linda Bell, gross 89, Jude Winkley, net 73; Connie Norman, 74. Flight 3 -- Brenda Hiscott, gross 96, Sue Lambert, net 74; Elizabeth Bresnahan, 75. Flight 4 -- Yolande Paszkiewicz, gross 106. Cynthia Weller, 75 (MOC); Kathy Samchalk, 75 (MOC).
Paula Montgomery won closest to the pin on the third hole and Kathy Samchalk on the seventh.
Seven Lakes: The 9-Hole Lakers played on Oct. 15 in low net scores only on par four holes. Flight 1 -- Betsy Jones, 22 (MOC); Mary Ellen Lorion, 22 (MOC). Flight 2 -- Jo Bennet, 25; Flight 3 -- Marge Randolph, 20; Jane Kersey, 22.
Whispering Woods: The Ladies Golf Association held their Member-Guest Tournament on Oct. 7 and the format was low-gross and low-net. Gross winners: Carol Carlson and Suzanne Schultz, 67; Margret Endrigat and Lynn Ardner, 74; Mary Ella Miller and Jane Lankford, 79; Shirley Smedley and Peggy Jones, 81. Net winners: Barbara Woodruff and Janice Visceglia, 58; Fanny Maines and Pat Koubec, 60; Jean Kinkle and Eloise Willard, 60; Mary Pat Curl and Sue Jaehne, 61.
Whispering Pines: The Pinettes played on the West Course, in a game where the only holes that counted were net par or better. Flight 1 -- Karen Hobbs, 15; Diane Hendrick, 14; Janet Schultz and Alice Sheridan tied at 13. Flight 2 -- Peggy Flygar, 14; Judy Woodward, 12; Daryl Pierce and Nancy Donley tied at 10. The Pinettes played on Oct. 14 in an AB-CD, two best balls of the foursome contest. The Men's Golf Association played on Oct. 8 in a Captain's Choice Tournament. The winners were Art Woodward, Jim Mullin, Gil Hohwald, Charles Nintzel, 41; Sean Duggan, Stafford Thornton, Michael Tile, Ed Kennedy, 43; Patrick Lynch, Bob Flygar, Joe Thomas, Bob Tice, 43.75.
Longleaf: Dorothy Guckin, with a two-day gross score of 173, is the Longleaf Women's Golf Association's Club Champion for 2008. Pat Koubek won low net honors with 154.
Other winners were: Flight 1 -- Betty Bahler, gross 185; Nancy Evans net 142. Flight 2 -- Lynn Dunn gross 198; Alane Lennon net 140. Flight 3 -- Marian Morrison, gross 206; Jean Gleason, net 138.
In the 9-Hole Division Betty Crowder had net 78.
Birdies were recorded by Alane Lennon and Joan Baldwin on hole No. 12. Chip-ins were recorded by Mary Olech on the fourth hole, Betty Bahler on the 17th, Lynn Dunn on the 18th and Pat Koubek on Nos. 12 and 14.

The Men's Golf Association played its Ace of Aces Championship at match play on Oct. 10 and 12 using white and gold tees.
