Seventy-six folks entered The Pilot football contest this week. Seventy-two of them selected the Giants in the Monday night game against the Browns. Barry Miller, one of the four who picked the Browns, was tied with seven other players with 11 correct answers, two behind two players with 12 correct answers.
The Browns defeated the Giants 35-14.
Miller, a resident of Pinebluff, vaulted into a three-way tie for first place by selecting Cleveland and then snatched first place from the jaws of defeat, by missing the game's total score by a single point.
He finished ahead of John Robbins of Carthage and Kathy Latham of Vass. Robbins and Latham each picked the Giants in the Monday night game and Robbins outpointed Latham 41 to 40.
Congratulations to all those who played. Your fearless sports editor finished another mediocre week with eight correct selections.
Remember to keep your eyes on the final prize. The person with the highest number of correct selections at the end of the 13-week contest will earn $200. Weekly winners take home $50 for first, $30 for second and $20 for third.
Winning checks are sent out at the end of each month.
Thanks for reading, and good luck the rest of the way.
