The Arts Council of Moore County (ACMC) will present the Capitol Steps at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, at R.E. Lee Auditorium at Pinecrest High School.
Admission is $25 for ACMC members and $30 for nonmembers. Advance tickets can be purchased at Campbell House (482 E. Connecticut Ave., Southern Pines).
The sponsors of this benefit performance are The Pilot, STAR 102.5FM and WIOZ 550AM.
As a troupe of Congressional staffers-turned-musical comedians, the Capitol Steps have toured the U.S. satirizing the very people who once employed them.
Proceeds from this show will benefit the programs and services of the Arts Council of Moore County.
Since 1973, ACMC has worked to make Moore County life more enjoyable by providing arts opportunities for every citizen. Last year, over 50,000 Moore County citizens took advantage of ACMC-sponsored events. Some of these programs and services do not receive the recognition they deserve but are important to ACMC's mission.
For example, ACMC awarded over $2,100 in scholarship funds to several Moore County middle and high school students so they could attend a summer arts camp or to take private art lessons.
Through support from individual and business members and benefit shows, such as the Capitol Steps, ACMC may continue fulfilling its mission: Support, Promote and Develop Arts and Arts Education throughout Moore County!
Other ACMC programs and services include the Campbell House Galleries, the popular Classical Concert Series at the Sunrise Theater, the annual Fine Arts Festival featuring artwork from all over the country, the Young People's Fine Arts Festival in March, ARTours to destinations all over the world, Grassroots Arts Program and the Performing Arts in Moore Schools (PAMS) Program.
For tickets to see the Capitol Steps or questions about any ACMC program, stop by Campbell House, located at 482 E. Connecticut Ave., Southern Pines, call the Arts Council at (910) 692-4356 or visit www.artscouncil-moore.org.
