Sheriff's Office Announces Several Arrests

Moore County sheriff's deputies arrested a Pinehurst man Sept. 27 and charged him with stabbing a West End man.

Officers believe Anthony Darren Green, 44, of Juniper Lake Road, stabbed Michael Hunsucker of Lucas Road.

On that same day, deputies charged Green with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

He was jailed with a $10,000 bond.

Break-ins: Officers arrested Jerry Scott Jr., 33, of Raeford, Monday in connection with a series of break-ins in the Vass and Southern Pines areas.

Police had previously arrested Dexter Stephen Black, 29, of Carthage, in connection with the crimes.

Scott is charged with four counts of possession of stolen property. Black is charged with two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, five counts of felony larceny and five counts of possession of stolen property.

Scott was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond. Black was jailed on a $55,000 bond.

Assault on a Female: Sheriff's deputies got a report Sunday from the Eagle Springs area that a Carthage woman had been robbed and assaulted.

They arrested Eagle Springs resident Greg Cooper, 48, and charged him with second-degree kidnapping, common law robbery, possession of cocaine and assault on a female.

Cooper was jailed with a $30,000 bond. His first court appearance is Oct. 20.

Car Break-ins: Deputies arrested a Carthage man Sept. 30 and charged him with breaking into several vehicles.

The break-ins occurred June 30 and July 10 in Eastwood and West End, respectively.

Deputies charged Donald Earl Lee Jr., 21, with six counts of felony breaking and entering, five counts of misdemeanor larceny, five counts of possession of stolen goods and three counts of obtaining property by false pretenses.

He was jailed with a $40,000 bond.

Statutory Rape: On Sept. 30 deputies received a report of a statutory rape of a 15-year-old juvenile from the Carthage area.

Thursday, investigators arrested Tyler Joel Whitaker, 20, of Carthage, and charged him with two counts of statutory rape, two counts of abduction of a child from school property without parental permission, two counts of indecent liberties with child and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

Whitaker was jailed on a $200,000 bond. His first court appearance is Oct. 13.
