Despite the uncertainty in the national economy, a variety of employers in Moore County are seeking employees to fill current job openings.

Many of these employers will be present at the Employ Moore Job Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Days Inn of Southern Pines.

The county wide Fair will feature 30 employers of all sizes representing a diverse mix of businesses and industries.

Participating companies include: FirstHealth of the Carolinas, Gulistan Carpet, Pinehurst Resort, ATEX Technologies, ConnectNC, Southern Pines Police Department, Town of Aberdeen, Longworth Industries, Situs Outsourcing Solutions, Pine Needles/Mid Pines Resort, Pinetree Community Services, and Lowe's Home Improvement, among many others.

Job seekers will be able to complete job applications on-site and are encouraged to bring resums.

There is no cost to attend the fair.

"We want anyone looking for a job or even just holiday employment to come to the fair," said Patrick Coughlin, president of the Moore County Chamber of Commerce.

"These companies have job vacancies for a wide range of skill sets."

Attendees can enter a drawing to win one of four gas gift cards worth $50 each. A similar drawing will be held for the participating employers.

"After the fair held on March 26, many employers expressed an interest in having a second fair this year," Coughlin said. "This Job Fair next week comes at an appropriate time as many people may be experiencing economic insecurity because of national events. We are expecting a good turnout and are optimistic that many

job seekers will find the opportunities they are looking for."

Event sponsors include the Moore County JobLink Career Center, the Moore County Chamber, FirstHealth of the Carolinas and Pinehurst Resort.
