R. Terence McSweeney, 81, of Groveland, Mass. (formerly of Pinehurst), died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at the Beverly Hospital.

Born September 14, 1927, Mr. McSweeney was the son of the late Roland E. McSweeney, M.D. and Martha (Terrien) McSweeney. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Pinewild Country Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Ellin (Burns) McSweeney.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday, Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, Ipswich, Mass., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Andover Street, Georgetown.

Visitation: 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, at Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High St., Ipswich, Mass.

Survivors: son, R. Michael McSweeney, Reading, Mass.; daughters, Deedie Beidler, Groveland, Ellin McSweeney and Patricia McSweeney, both of Newburyport, Mass., and Susan McFayden, Ajax, Ontario, Canada; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Martha Conant, Conway, N.H., and Jane Wishart, Georgetown, S.C.
