The N.C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will hold an informational workshop next Tuesday on two planned railroad crossing closures in West End.

The informal meeting will be from 5 to 7 p.m. in the cafeteria of West End Elementary School at 4483 N.C. 211. Residents are invited to drop in and speak individually with NCDOT officials about project plans, as well as view maps of the proposed project.

Comments received during the workshop will be considered as they are refined. No formal presentation will be made.

NCDOT proposes to close two existing Norfolk Southern railroad crossings. One is located at Edgewood Terrace Drive, and the other is at Mode Road. The proposed closure of these at-grade rail crossings is part of an effort to reduce the number of redundant and/or high-accident rail-highway at-grade crossings statewide.
