Moore County Sheriff's investigators arrested a Vass man Nov. 14 for a sex offense involving a 14-year-old.

John Lindsey Heard, 58, of 267 McKeithan Road was charged with statutory sex offense, sex offense parental role, felony child abuse sex act, indecent liberties with child (two counts), contributing to juvenile (two counts) and displaying material harmful to a minor. The alleged incident took place Nov. 12, according to a press release.

Credit Card Theft: A Sanford woman was arrested Nov. 13 by Moore County Sheriff's detectives on charges relating to a credit card theft.

Jessica Pilson Lawton, 37, was charged with felony identity theft, felony financial card theft, misdemeanor financial card fraud and misdemeanor larceny.

A 78-year-old Southern Pines man reported Sept. 9 that $60 and a credit card had been stolen. He also reported that the credit card had been used several times, according to a press release.

Lawton was released on an unsecured $25,000 bond.
